Corcovado, also know as Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars is a popular Brasilian Bossa Nova by Antonio Carlos Jobim. In this intermediate guitar arrangement I have changed the key from the original key of C and moved up one tone to D major to make use of more open strings.  The feel is not really major, more of a modal feel which starts on D mixolydian.

The are some beautiful chord shapes and jazz extensions in this piece that I wanted to bring out, which I have tried to add in the chord harmony played.

The Boss Nova syncopated rhythm is kept steady and consistent throughout for the sake of notation but you should try and be more free with this as you learn and perform it, have some fun with it. I always imagine accompanying a singer to help me capture the mood and lyrical quality.
