Concerto De Aranjuez – Intro

Rodrigo’s Concerto De Aranjuez is an very well known spanish guitar work, though it’s the Adagio theme which people are most familiar with. Today we are going to be looking at the into to the first movement. The concerto starts with a series of rasguedo chords which are played in a 6/8 and 3/4 time feel and gradually move up the fret board building in intensity.

This section provides a great opportunity for improvement in chord shifts, rasguedo and creating that spanish feel.  I have attached a copy of the rasguedo chord section for you to have a play through. Remember to start slowly and pay attention to how you are going to strum the rasguedos.
