Overview of the Bass Strings

The notes on the bass strings are more challenging to learn as from the 5th string down the notes go below the staff. Notes can continue below the staff however we need to use ledger lines to show how far below the staff they are. You are more likely to see ledger lines on guitar music because we only use one staff where as piano has a separate staff below the treble notes.

Familiarise yourself with these notes and start practicing the Bass String Scale shown below. You will need to adjust your left hand slightly to accomodate for the bass notes, you can also raise you thumb a little behind the neck.
